Banning State Park, Oct. 2008
October in Minnesota means that there is a lot of color in the trees, so I took the 1st off and went to Sandstone, MN to Banning State Park for some picture taking. The kayak should have been brought with to go down the stream but we will save that for next year.
All along the banks are "kettles" or circular areas cut into the boulders and worn down by water and rocks. Hence the name-Kettle River, that runs thru the park.
The hike went really well and the trails are kept up really well. Plus at the end there is a nice waterfall.
For the afternoon I went to the St. Croix State Park and then thru Western Wisconsin back to the Twin Cities.
Enjoy!
